The problem of lacking gender diversity is quite important in many areas. If we don't have enough women as inventors or as scientists, then some discoveries that are relevant for essentially 50% of the population are never going to be tackled. Most tech developments in the art car industry are designed for men and will not suit women equally well. Similarly, from the medical field, we know that sometimes women are misunderstood simply because clinical trials aren't available.
