There is two fundamental conversation types that I explained in couple therapy so one is problem solving problem solving the goal is to solve a problem it's pretty obvious. The second type of communication is what I call a discussion and the goal of a discussion is to understand more deeply what your partner thinks and feels especially if they feel and think differently than you do.
