Paul's Message to Timothy: Training in Godliness
In ephesus, once again, he is warned against the irreverent silly myths. He more literally characterizes them as old women's fables. As an alternative to this, timothy must train himself for godliness. The christian's existence must be a lifelong growth in the practice of discipleship. Paul teaches that all this is done because we have set our hope on the living god.
