Tolkien's God

Tolkien is writing an explicitly theistic, monotheistic mythology. He actually gets identified inside and outside the legendarium with the true God. The best analogy that Tolkien uses to talk about Eru's relationship to creation is that of author. It would not be there if Tolkien did not spring it forth out of his thought.
