Volter's Anti-Clerical Thoughts
Volter represents the argument that we can reduce cruelty, especially the cruelty that we inflict on one another. He also is just so famously against the Catholic Church against institutional church. So, did he think that was he opposed to them partly because they prevented people from believing that they could do something about suffering? And thought too much about the afterlife and accepted the status of this world too much.
