Charles Mackey was mayor of Funganui, New Zealand in 1920. The town was going to host none other than his Royal Highness Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David Windsor that year. Prince Edward was a famous guy who insisted on joining the army during the war and repeatedly visited the front despite objections from the king and senior government ministers. He was affectionately nicknamed the Digger Prince.
