The idea of even just choosing embryos to implants based on their genetic profiles, let alone changing the genetics of people already alive is generally a subject that alarms people. Why do you think it is that people find it so distressing as an idea? Well I think there are good reasons and bad reasons. One we don't know enough about what specific genes do and how they interact with all other genes to comfortably edit.
