Ezekiel's Wife Dies
In chapter 24 of the Bible, Ezekiel's wife dies and he is told by God to take away her delight from him. He does not shed a tear because she was "the light of his life," says John Sutter. The prophet then tells people that when the temple in Jerusalem is destroyed they won't even mourn it. It cuts to the heart: How often are we indifferent to God's word or disrespected?
