When we look at the series peaky blinders, we must understand that it is drama. It's not reality. The real peaky blinder were not organized criminals. They were backstreet thugs who engaged in petty theft and protection. Many of them have stable jobs so why are working-class men turning to violent crime crimes? Brutality, it seems, is their way of demonstrating strength and commanding respect.
