The Importance of a Full Consensus in Bringing a Case Before the ISCJ
The ISCJ is the UN's principal judicial mechanism and considered the world's highest court. It can hear cases that are contentious, where one state is suing another for some sort of action or compensation. But states can also ask the court for an advisory opinion on a legal question. In this case Vona Watu has brought their request before the United Nations General Assembly. This is the first time they have ever had a full consensus from states to bring a request for an advisory opinions.
