You've met with and taken veterans back on field tours. What do the veterans of the italian campaign tell you? And how do they differ from what would then happen in north west europe? I think that they feel forgotten. They wear that phrase as a badge of pride in many respects, sir. It was a tough, tough battle in italy. Nothing like was experienced by british and commonwealth troops,. for example, in North West Europe.
