The History of Peyote Cactus

Peyote use is considered ancient. It goes back at least a couple thousand years maybe four thousand years depending on how you start dating it from whatever archaeological evidence. I think that there's something very different about Peyote relative to other psychedelics which is that it is this absurdly slow growing cactus and so recreational or casual use of it is sort of incompatible with the ecological status of this plant.
