I think as much as possible it's good to do not take it personally and to learn from it if there's anything that can be learned from. I mean, anyone who has any doubts about the justice of the hierarchy just should look at the list of Pulitzer Prize winners from the 20s and 30s. There are largely books you haven't heard of while Faulkner was publishing. Many people were eligible for the Nobel Prize who did not get it; many people we don't read anymore do. So really we're all reading for pleasure and for edification and for what we connect with personally.
