In the King James Version for instance, for the Lord the God of Israel said that he hated putting away. For one coverth violence with his garments set the Lord of hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit that ye deal not treacherously. The verse then talks about the full ramifications of the actions of the man who divorces his wife out of mere hatred for her. He covers his garment with violence. This dispute will be continued in the verses that follow.
