Edward Lee on the toxic culture of peer review

Changing Academic Life

00:00

Introduction

Edward Lee has been working on embedded software systems for more than 40 years. After studying and working at Yale, MIT and Bell Labs, he landed at Berkeley where he's now professor of the Graduate School in EECS. As you will hear, I did way lay him with questions as he was trying to give an intro to his background so I'll read from his bio here. So this is a longer interview and I would encourage you to listen through to the end if you can as he's so many good things to say that might just prompt all sorts of reflections about how you approach reviewing. Also as forewarning, we talk about blind reviewing at some point.
