The Septuagint and the Bible
The Septuagint is a Jewish translation of the Old Testament that was made around 200 BC. It became the Bible for all Greek speaking Christians in the 4th century. Saint Jerome thought it must be identical to the original, as Hebrew only survived to one text. He came up with this idea of Hebrew truth: if something's in the Hebrew, then it's true and authentic. If it's not in the HebrewText, then it’s spurious or apocrypha.
