The Octopad - The First Surprise Producer
The Octopad, introduced by Roland in 1985, is an electronic percussion instrument consisting of eight rubber pads designed to be struck with traditional drumsticks. The Octopad has no internal sound source of its own. Instead, transmitting MIDI information that can be received and played by any instrument with Ableton capability,. allowing the user to play a wide variety of sounds. It bears no relation to the Octopfish, nor the neon meat dreams thereof.
