The Three Shelf Metaphor of Revelation
I love Mary for this. She is treasuring up her spiritually experiences. And can you imagine the bedtime stories she would have told little Jesus? When our kids were little, in fact I don't think they'll ever grow out of it. So that's shelf one in the metaphor of the three shelves. Of Revelation past and Revelation present preparing us for Revelation yet to come. If we have things on our first shelf, spiritual experiences that we have kept there, then we have things to ponder which will help initiate more and more revelation on a middle shelf. Preparing us for God to bring down more from shelf three for us to ponder and think upon.
