In blind people, the brain's visual cortex is re purposed for auditory tasks such as detecting motion and pin pointing where a sound is coming from. The study appears in the journal of neuro science. Further research will investigate other ways in which life experiences may profoundly shape cognitive function - from reading rail to programming computers.
