How Do You Monitor Your Athletes for Overwork?

I think taking that yearly goal and being really honest with oneself about what really is my goal and then what's realistic. And I see lining up a whole, a whole bunch of those in a year, but then you have to sit back and say, am I the kind of athlete who just has to go out and try a personal best on every single race I do? That type of feedback becomes really honestly the major component of determining if the workload is as a whole appropriate for any individual athlete.
