The Importance of Metrics in Bug Monitoring
I want to see people, I feel like both exception reporting and probably log statements are overused as well. And sometimes it can be helpful to know that a specific sad path occurred. But more often than not, it's helpful to understand the pattern of an occurrence over time. That's where our metrics come in when we're describing sad path occurrences. It also gives you some timing data, the stack trace and all that nice happy stuff.
