Is the Ruble a Valid Proxy for the State of the Russian Economy?

Rouble is very much coupled from the state of the actual russian economy. The countries that would sell us natural gas are mostly in the middle eastern countries like catar the us and australia. So this wouldn't put in a lot of hot water. And there are issues with the us because the current government, wasn't em,. wasn't pleased, em, of the idea of exporting a lot of natural gas.
