The Language of Transformation
When you stand back and you read Paul in particular in the light of this extraordinary big story of saying that in the person of Christ God has come onto the earth. In this huge story then you realize he's not talking about don't smoke and don't drink and don't have sex. Big schemas is his word that actually shape our lives but they've lost their hold. And for the first time ever in all of classical literature somebody uses the language of transformation or metamorphosis using it positively. It's the first time in a thousand years of literature that anybody ever uses this language positively.
