Cognitive Architectures and Machine Learning Deep Neural Network Approaches
Cognitive architectures are a tradition that mostly originated in psychology within people that were strongly influenced by the ideas of cybernetics and AI. So we think about how to organize structure into layers and then how to stack the right number of layers together. But we can also see that the brain is not organized into layers. It's organized into regions that have very complex interconnectivity. And most of the work that is being done in machine learning is not looking at architecture. The architecture is only instrumental to a certain task which could be, for instance, text completion.
