The Importance of Signs
The Jewish leaders were flabbergasted that Jesus would say such a thing. And so they are asking Jesus to give them some sort of sign, some sort of miraculous thing which will prove he has the authority to do these kinds of things. So what was Jesus saying? Let's step back and understand what he's saying. He's saying the only sign you're going to receive that will be enough proof to you is the fact that I am going to say arise from the dead.
