Why This Universe?

CHAPTER

The Recent Discoveries of Gravitational Waves

LIGO and Virgo observed another black hole merger, but a totally different kind of event than the ones they'd seen before. The merger took place between some really gargantuan black holes with 85 and 66 suns worth of mass solar masses,. And when they combine together the thing that was left, we estimate had a mass of 142 solar masses. Some of the energy, if you're doing the rhythmic is lost into the two merging black holes don't add up to the mass in the end. This is because a lot of that energy goes into the form of gravitational waves.
