The Agronomic Challenges of Growing Duckweed

We don't have seed, which means we don't have a unit operation that is equivalent to sowing seed in the field. These plants reproduce predominantly vegetatively so they're budding off of one another several generations before the plant eventually sinuses. And as you can imagine, there's a sweet spot where if it's over harvested and you have sparse colonies of these plants, you're going to have an atmosphere that could support competitive crops coming in. We've been able to get those things patented because this is a very new area for farming right now.
