Is There Any Research on Polar Bears?
Christopher Blackington asks if polar bears could evolve into full-time sea mammals like seals or even cetaceans. There is no research on this that I know of. Polar bear cubs fare quite poorly in the cold water which is why polar bear moms will often take the long way around on the sea ice so that they can walk on top of the sea ice. So I don't see it happening anytime soon but you know let's wait a few million years and see where evolution takes the polar bear.
