The Romans Have a Social Welfare Programme

The Roman Republic was not a superdifferent government in a lot of ways from the ones that our founding fathers established u. Only the very wealthiest people could actually od office. Every free man has a vote in the roman republic, but it also doesn't really work that way because every rich guy picks up hundreds or even thousands of like, clients. It's kind of like their social welfare programme, like, this rich guy has to take care of you a little bit, but you have to do what he says when it's time to vote.
