In the 1960s, scientists tried to create a vaccine for RSV. It didn't go well; two of the kids who got the vaccine died. In 2013, scientist Jason McClellan figured out how to solve an important problem in RSV vaccine development. This helped hasten the development of the COVID vaccine when SARS-CoV-2 came on the scene.
