The Limits of the Word Man
When we use a public language, the meanings of the words are not determined by the intentions of any particular individual. And that's why it's possible to like misuse a word or misunderstand the word. I think what happened with our so called gender terms and our so called sex terms terms like man and woman, male and female. We can't just sit down and say well you know for the purposes of this conversation let man mean blah. It's not really the way to just gather the facts about what a man is. What we'd have to do is like study the way the word has been used by the linguistic community. And then try to figure out what that word is in fact referring
