New space is actually a term of self identification among private companies that are invested in the burgeoning space industry. When I refer to something like the new space era or the new space race, I am referring to an increasing trend in the US political economic landscape to turn the space sector over to new space. So that's more of like an outsider designation. That's what I'm attributing to them.
