Analysis of Childhood Resilience to Adversity and Impact on Adult Mental Health
This chapter delves into a study tracking the mental health and functional outcomes of resilient children facing adversities like low socioeconomic status, family distress, and maltreatment from early childhood to adulthood. While some initially resilient children avoided psychiatric disorders in childhood, they were more susceptible to anxiety and depressive disorders in adulthood, in addition to experiencing worse physical health and lower achievement.
