What's the Industry Up To?

Goldman Sachs recently announced a whole bunch of new changes, like ending their consumer banking effort. And they've really retreated from that in a pretty big way. Part of what's really puzzling to me is how basically the consumer effort didn't really go anywhere. It seems you're not really getting the balances so you don't really lend, but the lending that you do are also somehow not as sophisticated as you think.
