How to Monetize a Public Company

Google.com is working on an open app platform for developers to build their own search apps. The company hopes that will allow them to monetize and also internationalize the service. Google has worked over the last decade on what we call zero click searches, meaning you don't leave the Google ecosystem anymore. It's a very, very ubiquitous trillion dollar local optimum. But it's very hard to get out of it.
