The HCAP Study on Dementia

Harmonized Cognitive Assessment Protocol or HCAP is the second sub-study on dementia that we've done with the Health and Retirement Study. About 3,500 people who were 65 and older participated in the 2016 wave of the HRS. The main goal was to get good and wide ranging cognitive information across different cognitive domains. And then all of that information both from the respondent, the cognitive testing as well as the informant information was put together and we developed an algorithm to classify people as normal cognitive function, MCI or dementia.
