The Importance of Writing for General Audiences
I don't think there was ever much point in writing for people who agreed with you completely. And that if you were, then you were trying to expose something as being more complicated than it seemed. But I preferred the shades of gray to the black and white, by and large. In my book Dispatchers, there's a column about why riots are sometimes necessary.
