Parents struggle with enforcing consequences when their child is exhibiting a negative behavior. What advice can you offer for parents who are struggling to enforce these behaviours? There isn't a consequence that can make an impulsive brain stop, says Dr David Perry. You have to remove yourself from the situation by saying 'even though i know that right now things are out of control, don't want to be spoken to that way' This will remind them that in there is the child you adore and that you understand this is out of control.
