The Christian ethic is essentially political. You can't pursue kingdom values without being political in some way. Churches should not be issuing proclinations about marginal tax rates or sugar subsidies, he says. But if there are issues that hit upon those creation order buckets, life, human flourishing, what is a human being? I think it's appropriate in limited circumstances for the church to say, hey, we do need to speak here.
