The Importance of Metaphysics in Physics

I think metaphysics within science generally is still seen as a slightly suspicious word in itself. Some areas of physics are straying into questions that seem metaphysical, partly because their way... the speculations go way beyond what we can test at the moment. There's an argument going on about whether that has to be a criterion of science or not. I don't think you can do physics without doing metaphysics. You need to have empirical evidence but also philosophical reflection.
