Trigger Warnings at York University
When and why did university start using trigger warnings? This is something that started on the other side of the Atlantic. Mara Lee Grayson, who's an assistant professor of English at California State University has looked into where this whole thing began. The trigger warning as we currently conceptualize it is believed to have originated in the mid to late 1990s in feminist online spaces like private blogs and forums.
