Christopher scott writes for 18 forty three, the economist's sister magazine. They were inundated with letters from all around the world to sherlock holmes. So they decided it wouldn't be a bad piece of r to hire a secretary to answer those letters. I wanted to meet one of those secretaries, chris baslington, who held the job until 19 82. And so what kind of letters did mister beslington receive? A lot of the letters were from people from all round the world talking about how much they enjoyed the stories. There were questions about different problems in the stories, or inconsistencies in stories. But some letters that he received were from people who believed sherlock hol
