What's the Origin Story of America?
i think we can alr kind of see from this conversation, like when you look at a place that's been off the radar, like batavia, even though it's a very important, long standing colony. It changes the picture around when you then come back and talk about europe and north americay. People are always looking for an origin story, sorf which origin story works well for them. And i'm sure many people in dutch history and dutch studies are often asking the same question, what about the dutch? Where did they go? So i think this was a really illuminating conversation, and i think it worked well to sort of question, right question our perceptions
