I started writing this book during the covid pandemic I guess I was troubled by the fact that you know it already become a cliche to say that this is unprecedented and this is so unusual. As a species we're living surrounded by microbes and we have all these microbes teaming inside us and they're mutating all the time sometimes to help us and sometimes to harm us. The last 50 years has really been a golden age for infectious diseases with the boom in population and the increase in travel between far-flung places has really been a boon to to infectious diseases.
