Some British troops had a secret plan to go into battle in women's underwear. They were kilt-wearing soldiers, and they were worried that their legs would be an exposed poisonous gas. It was decided that the protective clothing would be too costly to supply all Scots regiments so they just banned kilts from the battle grounds.
