How to Defeat the SDMI DRM Strategy

The SDMI worked to create a standard for MP3 players. To do this, they created a digital watermarking process that would attach a bit of code to a music file and that bit of code would act as a watermark. If you tried to remove the watermark, it would in theory cause damage to the MP3 file so that you would get signal loss. The RIAA threatened legal action under the Digital Management Copyright Act or DMCA.
