How Long Is a Sample Valid?

The sample age is defined really by a number of our standards against again, the ABB standard, CAP. They state that if the patient has not been transfused or pregnant in the last three months, there's no requirement on the age of the sample. However, practice is if there's any uncertainty, which is pretty much the norm, right? Then the sample must be less than three days old.
