Ballet is sentrally important to russian society. Dancers slicing through the air and challenging laws of physics and gravity represent civil and grace. But after february 20 fourth, when russia military troops invaded ukraine, russian ballet troops had their western tourist cancelled. And just last week, moscow's bolshoy theatre abruptly cancelled shows by directors critical of putton's military campaign.
