The Works and Days by Hesiod
Hesiod took an intensely personal outlook, unlike Homer. His primary aim of this poem was to give advice to farmers on how to live righteously. Unlike the Homeric Epics, which were set in a distant age of heroes, Hesiod told about ordinary people and their ordinary lives. He sees manual labor is the universal lot of man, and only those who are willing to work hard will succeed.
