The Dissonance Between the Government and the Police

I think sensible conservatives would acknowledge that the austerity period did damage. But I don't think anyone should sort of say there were no consequences at all to the levels of reduction that we saw in public services. The Conservatives are insulting voters' intelligence on this because it's all very much aimed at Red Wall voters. They want people to be tough on crime, they want to address antisocial behavior. And at the moment, government's only offering you half the picture. It's not talking at all about what policing needs and nottalking at all about causes of crime.
